I traveled around Ross County early one Sunday morning taking photos of churches. I rolled into Kingston and turned onto one of its backstreets to find this beautiful church.

Cornfields surround this church on Route 104 just south of Yellowbud. It was a challenge trying to find an interesting perspective to frame the building. I felt it was more dramatic keeping the horizon line low from this angle, with the roof appearing to point towards the heavens.

I wanted to paint this farmstead from this perspective. It best illustrates the size of this complex of buildings. This is what you see if you stop at the bridge and look back towards Chillicothe.

Somewhere halfway to Londonderry on US 50, is a farm that has the longest barn I’ve ever seen. During the fall, it comes into better view when the trees that surround it go bare.

I pulled over to the side of the road on US 35/50 and snapped a photo of the “Last Farmhouse.” I like this view of this expansive farm laid against the backdrop of southern Ohio’s rolling hills

If you travel west of Chillicothe on Route 50, you’ll find this expansive farm just before you enter Bainbridge. Paint Creek runs between it and the hills that are its backdrop. I enjoy to canoeing this section of the creek.

This is a complex of buildings on Charleston Pike just outside of Chillicothe. I’ve passed this farm many times on visits to different friends who lived out this way. I also liked to bicycle this part of the county.

This tower was built during World War II and still stands as the beach erodes and the dunes disappear. I believe it is law that you can not rebuild a home along this stretch of beach when a it gives way to water or weather.

On our annual trips to Topsail Island, I walk the beach to find something to paint. When I settled on this view, it was high noon and the sand emitted an overwhelming glare.

Train tracks run between the farm and the field in the foreground. The buildings appear abandoned, but well maintained.
